Stereotactic frames are tools, not diagnoses. They may help when tissue diagnosis is needed from a deep or small lesion, or when coordinated targeting is part of the surgical plan. Seek care for progressive neurological deficits, unexplained seizures, severe or changing headache with warning signs, or imaging already showing an intracranial lesion that needs specialist review. Sudden collapse, marked drowsiness, or rapidly worsening weakness needs emergency services (1122 / BVH Emergency).

Diagnosis

Clinical assessment and imaging define whether a lesion should be sampled or targeted. With the Inomed ARC frame, planning uses coordinates referenced to the rigidly fixed frame. When BodyTom integration is part of the pathway, intraoperative CT can support verification of trajectory or position in selected cases. The team confirms entry point, path, and depth before tissue sampling or therapeutic stereotactic steps. Frame-based versus frameless options are chosen according to target, stability needs, and available workflow—not one slogan for every patient.

Stereotactic biopsy aims to obtain diagnostic tissue with a planned path, often when open resection is not the first step. Other frame-based applications depend on indication and local protocol. Conservative care, medical therapy, open surgery, or stereotactic sampling are alternatives discussed case by case. The ARC system’s role is accuracy and stability of targeting—not a promise of cure. Results and next treatments hinge on pathology and the wider clinical picture.
